Bowling for Teachers Grant

On Monday, April 30, Hudsonville Lanes owner Doug Boomsma had the opportunity to present Deb Fridsma, a Hudsonville third grade teacher with a $250 check. Because of Hudsonville Lane's participation in the national "Bowling to Teachers" program, Deb was able to obtain this grant money to use towards classroom supplies.

On Thursday, May 10, Hudsonville Lanes owner had another opportunity to present a "Bowling to Teachers" grant. Our reciever, Kristen Smith is a special education teacher at Baldwin Street Middle School. She was granted a check for $250 and the money will be used towards classroom expenses.

Bowling to Teachers Grants What is "Bowling to Teachers?" It is a program  that will be providing $100,000 in grants to K-8 teachers this spring to help teachers offset some of the out of pocket expenses they experience providing classroom supplies. The program will be providing 400 – $250 grants to be awarded between March and July 2012. "Bowling to Teachers" is sponsored by the national Kids Bowl Free Summer Bowling Program that has provided free bowling to over 5 million children over the past 4 summers. If you are a teacher, principle or administrator from a K-8 school and would like more information on "Bowling to Teachers" and/or the Kids Bowl Free Summer Bowling Program, go to www.kidsbowlfree.com/grants or call (616) 669-9380 and ask to speak to Doug.

If you are a parent and would like to sign up your child for the "Kids Bowl Free" program, registration is now open. The free bowling began on April 30 and runs until September 2. To sign up, click the link. https://www.kidsbowlfree.com/center.php?alley_id=1880

American Cancer Society Fundraiser

This past Saturday, April 28, we had the opportunity to hold another fundraiser for a great cause. The American Cancer Society came in from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to bowl and raise money for their cause. The Saturday morning fundraiser was a success and everyone had a fun time bowling and helping raise money. We look forward to working with them next year and anticipate another successful fundraiser.

I wanted to thank you again for supporting the American Cancer Society in its quest for a world with more birthdays and less cancer. Your support helps the American Cancer Society fund research. Second only to the American Government, the American Cancer Society funds the most research with 46 America Cancer Society Funded Researchers winning Noble Prizes – Victoria Klumpp

Special Olympics

On Saturday, April 21, we had the pleasure of hosting a fundraiser for the Area 12 Special Olympics. The fundraiser was both fun and rewarding for its participants. Door prizes were given out and bowling proceeds went to benefits Area 12.  Overall, they were able to raise over $8,000.  What a fun group of people and we look forward to doing another fundraiser for them in the future. Below are two pictures and videos from the event.
